Samples
- A sample is a small number of people or items from a population
- Populations are large groups, such as eligible voters in a country or cookies being made in a factory
- Sampling is useful because surveying an entire population is often impractical and expensive
- Surveys only need to be done on a sample, which is faster and cheaper
- Data from a good sample can describe the population it came from
- Different methods of sampling include random sampling, voluntary sampling, opportunity sampling, and selective sampling
