Inverse Proportionality
- Two quantities are inversely proportional if increasing one causes the other to decrease by the same multiple
- Inverse proportionality often comes up in exams
- Inverse proportionality can be shown as y = k/x, where k is a constant of proportionality
- Inverse proportionality can be represented in a table of values
- Inverse proportionality is similar to direct proportionality
- Points scored in a puzzle game are inversely proportional to the number of moves taken
- The formula for calculating points is p = 5040/m
- Rearrange the formula to make m the subject: pm = 5040, m = 5040/p
- Substitute the given number of points (840) to find the value of m: m = 5040/840 = 6
