  • A vector can be scaled by multiplying or dividing it by a scalar
  • When a vector is scaled by a positive number, it has the same direction but a different length
  • When a vector is scaled by a negative number, it has the opposite direction but the same length
  • To scale a column vector, both the horizontal and vertical components are multiplied by the scalar
  • To add scaled vectors, the corresponding components are added separately
