Himmler was the architect of the concentration camps and the Holocaust.
He established the SS as a highly disciplined paramilitary force loyal to Hitler.
He oversaw the Gestapo who enforced Nazi terror through surveillance and persecution.
He played a central role in perpetuating Nazi ideology, censorship, and genocide.
He committed suicide in 1945 after being captured by Allied forces.
