4:07 Relative Frequency
Spec P1 P3
  • Relative frequency is an estimation of the probability of an event based on experimental results
  • Probability is the likelihood of an outcome from a random action
  • Relative frequency is equal to the frequency of an outcome over the total number of trials
  • To calculate the probability using relative frequency, use the relative frequency equation
  • Example 1: Tamana finds her dog in the kitchen 12 out of 25 days, so the relative frequency is 12/25
  • Example 2: Drawing an even card has a relative frequency of 1/3
