Asexual Reproduction
- Asexual reproduction involves only one parent.
- It is common in single-celled organisms like bacteria.
- There is no fusion of gametes, leading to no mixing of genetic information.
- Offspring are genetically identical, also known as clones.
- Mitosis is the type of cell division used in asexual reproduction.
- During mitosis, one parent cell divides to produce two genetically identical daughter cells.
- In bacteria, mitosis is also referred to as binary fission.
