Tobacco Mosaic Virus
- Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) is a widespread plant virus.
- TMV affects many species of plants, including economically important tomato plants.
- The virus causes a distinctive mosaic pattern on the leaves.
- This mosaic pattern limits photosynthesis in the affected areas of the leaves.
- Limited photosynthesis results in stunted plant growth and reduced yield.
- For exams, describe TMV as causing a mosaic pattern of discoloration that impacts plant growth due to reduced photosynthesis.
