- Increased breathing rate and volume help deliver more oxygenated blood to muscles.
- If the body cannot supply enough oxygen, incomplete oxidation of glucose occurs, leading to muscle fatigue.
- Continued exercise under these conditions can lead to anaerobic respiration, causing lactic acid buildup and oxygen debt.
- Lactic acid buildup can cause muscle cramps and pain.
- Oxygen debt refers to the extra oxygen required by the body for recovery post-exercise.
- Understanding these physiological responses is important for exams and observing these effects during exercise can be an educational experience.
