What is analysis?

After you have an excess of annotations to work with, this is where analysis comes into play. Analysing why techniques are used in English is essential for you being able to understand how the structural features of the text operate and the different effects that writing conventions can have on a reader. By annotating the poems as we did earlier, you have already established the key ways the poet has expressed their ideas. This is the how. What we need to do now is to figure out the reasons or, as aforementioned, the why.
