Demonstrative and invariable pronouns

Esto and eso mean this and that in a general or undefined way. They are used when talking about ideas, situations, or unknown things.
They are neuter, which means they don’t refer to a specific masculine or feminine noun. For example: ¿Qué es esto? (What is this?), ¡Eso es increíble! (That is amazing!), ¿Por qué dijiste eso? (Why did you say that?)
Invariable pronouns refer to unspecified people or things and do not change for gender or number (e.g. algo = something, alguien = someone/ somebody). These pronouns don’t agree with verbs or adjectives by gender/number – they’re fixed. For example: ¿Oíste algo? (Did you hear something?), Alguien está en la puerta. (Someone is at the door.), ¿Has dicho algo? (Have you said something?)
